Honors Program

Honors students in the department of mathematical sciences take courses specifically designed for talented students. Recently we have offered honors courses in mathematical logic, cryptology and coding theory, the mathematics of voting and elections, mathematical biology, and music and mathematics.

The department of mathematical sciences combines expertise in applied and pure mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. The sharing of ideas and information across the mathematical disciplines makes the department a rich place to teach and learn. Our faculty are all excited to share their research with students and most would be happy to talk to undergraduates about potential honors projects.

Our honors courses open to all students who have exhibited outstanding ability and interest in the mathematical sciences. Honors courses are typically small in size, interactive in nature, and very much student -centered. If you want to be involved in honors and have not received an invitation from us, please contact the honors director. She can easily help you determine if honors courses are right for you.

If you have any questions concerning honors in the mathematical sciences please contact the departmental honors director.
