Sports Analytics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers an undergraduate certificate in Sports Analytics. The program is designed for students who wish to learn about data analytics as applied to the abundant information about sports of all types. 

Undergraduate Certificate in Sports Analytics

Students pursuing an undergraduate degree may add the certificate to their program of study. The certificate includes 15 hours of coursework in:

  • Economics of Sport
  • Data Management and Visualization
  • Statistical Modeling
  • Analysis in Sports

Students also complete an internship. Internships are usually completed in athletics at Appalachian, but other options are possible.

Curriculum

Students work with a major advisor to plan their path through the curriculum, including selection of approved electives. Students can track their progress via their Degreeworks worksheet, accessed through Appalnet.

Programs of study requirements are determined by the year a student starts at Appalachian.
