 About Jacob Blazejewski

Dr. Jacob Blazejewski (blah-szeh-ski) joined the the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fall of 2023.  Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Blazejewski earned his Bachelor's of Science degree at Alma College with a double major in math and chemistry This was followed by his Master's and PhD in math at Michigan Technological University.  Dr. Blazejewski comes to ASU after traveling all the way from the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, where he experienced an average total winter snowfall of ~281 inches (7.1 m).

Dr. Blazejewski's research interests are in applied and computational mathematics; in particular, developing higher-order robust numerical methods to solve partial differential equations.  He specializes in meshless methods such as the Radial Basis Functions Method, which is useful in many fields including image processing, biology, geology, and fluid dynamics. Dr. Blazejewski is keen to delve into new applications and build collaborative networks. He is also passionate about helping students learn mathematics and developing more effective teaching methods.

Outside of campus, Dr. Blazejewski enjoys baking, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.  He is also looking forward to getting outdoors and exploring all the wonderful experiences Boone has to offer! Fun fact:  Dr. Blazejewski (known as 'Dr. Blaze' to his students) has an extensive tie collection and makes a point of not repeating ties on class days throughout the semester.  Be sure to check out the featured 'tie of the day' !
