About Tracey Howell

Dr. Howell joined Appalachian State University in 2021 after twenty-two years as faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  While at UNCG, she enjoyed teaching a variety of undergraduate mathematics courses including general education courses, courses for STEM majors, and courses for students planning to be public school teachers.  Dr. Howell serves as one of the state co-chairs for the UNC System Math Pathways initiative and plans to continue that work focused on increasing student success in undergraduate mathematics courses. Dr. Howell also serves as one of the state co-chairs for the North Carolina Launch Years Initiative.

Dr. Howell moved to Boone in June 2021 with her two little dogs (a miniature doxie and a pomeranian).  In their genuine log cabin, she and the dogs are loving the beauty and serenity of the mountains.
