About Sherry Nikbakht
I joined the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State University in August 2001, and I have been teaching Introduction to Mathematics, College Algebra, and Pre Calculus since then. Also, I have been teaching STEM and Sustainability First Year Seminar since Fall 2016. I have been teaching a problem-solving class for the Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics Program since summer of 2002. I served as the Math Club's Faculty adviser for 5 years.
I am very passionate about the Sustainability and Environmental issues. One of my hobbies is to travel around the world to learn about and experience different cultures. I love the mountains and am very passionate about the environment and preserving as much beauty and goodness of it as we can for our future generation. Teaching Mathematics concepts, I always try to provide examples of how math is used to solve problems in different disciplines. My teaching objectives will hopefully generate interest and result in an improved learning.
