About Jennifer

Jennifer Williams started her post-secondary education at UNC-Greensboro then transferred to Appalachian State where she received her BS and MA degrees.  Jennifer is starting her third year as a faculty member in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State and her fifteenth year as an educator.  The majority of her teaching career has been spent as a middle and high school teacher in Ashe and Watauga counties.

Jennifer is a Desmos fellow and a member of the NC2ML Visions Project working to co-design a shared vision for high quality mathematics instruction in North Carolina. Jennifer was recognized as the Teacher of the Year in 2016 at Ashe County Middle School and in 2019 at Watauga High School. In 2016 and 2018 she was also recognized as an Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher by the NC Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Jennifer is married to her husband Jamie. They have a dog named Cooper, a cat named Bella, and three nieces and two nephews. Most afternoons and weekends you can find Jennifer at one of her nieces sporting events.  In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time on both her road and mountain bikes. She is one of the coaches for the Watauga middle and high school NICA mountain bike teams. Jennifer also enjoys baking and traveling.
